Admissions Policy 2027/28 (Under consultation until 30.11.2025)
Please email governors@st-andrewscofe.worcs.sch.uk if you have any comments about the proposed admissions policy for 2027/28
The 2027/28 Admissions Policy will be ratified at a Full Governing Board (FGB1) meeting on 07.01.26 following the consultation process.
Please note that faith-based oversubscription criteria was removed from the policies a number of years ago at the behest of the Diocese of Birmingham.
Appeals for September 2027 (after offers made)
Whilst we would be delighted to accept all applicants for a place at St Andrew's, current infant class size legislation requires that we can only take 45 pupils in our Reception cohort. In order to ensure fairness to all, we set a table of criteria, broken down into several categories clearly listed in the 2027-28 Admissions Policy.
All applicants are ranked according to the oversubscription categories in the policy.
Should you wish to refer this matter to a full appeal then it is your right to do so; however please be aware that the Admissions Committee have followed the admissions policy and the Governors will therefore defend any appeal that is instigated. Your appeal should clearly detail why you believe the policy oversubscription categories have not been followed. See form below.
It is worth noting that if the Panel accepts that admission of an additional child would breach the infant class size legislation, the Panel will then only allow an appeal if satisfied that our published criteria are unlawful or had not been properly followed for your child (and that he/she would otherwise have been offered a place), or that we have acted unreasonably.
If you wish to appeal, please complete and return the form below by TBC June 2027 and we will arrange for an Independent Appeals Panel to be convened to hear your appeal. Appeals received by this date will be held in June/July but by TBC July 2027 at the latest.
Please note that you can appeal after TBC June 2027 but we cannot then guarantee that your appeal will be heard before the start of the new school year. Appeals are not heard in school holidays.
Registering an appeal does not place you on a waiting list - see next category

In Year Waiting list
If you did not receive your first or 2nd place choice WCC Admissions will automatically place you on the waiting list for those schools and you will remain on the waiting list until 31 December 2027. We will not hold a waiting list in school. (This a change to procedure in previous years)
If there are spaces available, the admissions committee will meet w/c tbc May 2027 to rank the waiting list against the oversubscription categories in the 2027/28 Admissions Policy. Places will then be offered from WCC.
From 1 Jan 2027 the waiting list will be cleared unless you contact WCC admissions for an in-year submission or you ask the WCC Admissions team to stay on the waiting list.
