Vision Statement
“We will REACH our potential with the help of God”
No two people are the same. No two people have the same sets of skills and abilities. Each of us is different. And for each of us there is a unique journey in life ahead of us. At St. Andrew’s, we want to help each child find the path set before them and REACH their full potential with the help of God.
When we talk about potential, we don’t just mean academic potential. Not every child is a genius! What is more important is to grow into being the person God has called us to be. We can REACH our potential in so many different ways. We want children to feel valued whatever their background, gifts, skills and abilities. We recognise that God has created each of us uniquely and every one of us can bring something positive to our community.
The school badge features pears – fruits that has grown on a tree. Fruit tree needs carefully nurtured and pruning. When the tree is well looked after, it reaches its potential and the fruit grows in abundance. Our school values are the fruit that we want to see growing in our children’s lives above all else. This fruit will help them REACH their potential whichever path is before them in life.
Bible verse options (though, if you don't likr these, others are available!):
John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit.”
Our Vision is what keeps us moving forward, even during tough times. Vision is the most powerful motivator in our school. As our vision is meaningful, we can all do outstanding things to bring it to realisation and be proud of what we have achieved.
Our Christian Values
We hope that our core Christian values will help children understand that there are some central beliefs that people hold, and learn to fall back on these when making choices and decisions using these core values as important guiding tool.
“We will REACH our potential with the help of God”
Respect - We will care for each other, for our school and for the environment.
The Bible says, “My commandment is this: Love one another just as I love you”. (John 15:12)
Excellent - We aim for the best in our behaviour, in our teaching and learning and with all our talents.
The Bible says, “Whatever we do, work at it with all your heart, as though you were working for the Lord and not for men”. (Colossians 3:23)
Accepting - We accept people’s differences and welcome everyone’s ideas and contributions.
The Bible says,” The body is a unit, though it is made of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body”. (1 Corinthians 12:12)
Confident - We will try our best and be confident to have a go, and remember that we learn through new experiences and challenges.
The Bible says, “Be determined and confident. Don’t be afraid or discouraged, for I, the Lord your God, am with you wherever you go”. (Joshua 1:9)
Happy - We come to school to enjoy learning and being with others.
The Bible says,” I have come in order that you may have life - life in all its fullness”. (John 10:10)
Learning together through our Christian values of REACH
School drivers – We focus on a diver each term. Our collective worship themes and songs of praise are linked to these.
Positive relationships
This is key to ensure that we feel safe and happy to take on challenges. We look at how we can build strong relationships with other children and adults and keep them. What is important to be a good friend and being kind to everyone in our school community.
Independence
St Andrew’s Church of England Primary School is an inclusive setting and our ethos and curriculum enables children to be independent learners, to make choices. We believe that children flourish best when their personal, social and emotional needs are met and where there are clear and appropriate expectations for their behaviour.
Caring for the environment
We want to make a positive difference in the world we live in. For example, God has given us a wonderful world to live in. Loving God means caring for his creation and seeking to pass it onto the next generation in a better state than which we found it. The eco team help us with this driver and we look at ways we can make a difference.
Activeness and well-being
We teach the children that is it is important to look after your own wellbeing and during the month of March we focus of activeness and pupils have the opportunity to choose their own enrichment activity based on their own interests.
Resilience
We encourage the children to question and become creative and curious learners who will push the boundaries and take risks even when it is hard. Resilient young people who are able to adapt and relate to the changing world around them.
Developing spirituality
Spirituality is an appreciation and cherishing of what is good, joyful, truthful and beautiful and in relationships with others, of what is generous creative and loving. The spirit of a person is seen in acts of courage and perseverance, in dealing with both setbacks and praise, in endeavour and enquiry. We embed this through connecting to our world, to others and to ourselves.
