We are a class of Year 1 and 2 children and our teachers are Mrs Fairyn and Mrs Geddes.
We have enjoyed our topic of George's Marvellous Medicine especially celebrating Roald Dahl Day when we dressed up as characters from Roald Dahl books. We even made our own Marvellous Medicines and had a go at writing clear instructions to show how to make them. Everybody visited the theatre to watch George's Marvellous Medicine, we even found out what happened to Grandma!
As part of our R.E topic we have talked about belonging and baptisms. We walked up to church where Jenny told us all about the baptism service and the special font where people are baptised. We also had a very special visit from Mrs Clewlow to talk to us about celebrating Diwali, the Hindu festival of light. We made our own Diva Lamps from clay and decorated them with paint and glitter.
We have also focused on mindfulness and spent time focusing on our breathing with our breathing buddies as well as learning how to cook omelettes with Bailey's Catering as we learnt about healthy eating.
Class 3 walked to the Lickey Hills to collect autumn treasures and to look at the changes of seasons from Summer to Autumn. The best part of our walk was our challenge to see who could make the biggest pile of leaves and who could race to the top of the hill first. When we got back to school we printed leaves to make leaf crowns and made clay hedgehogs.
In Numeracy we have been very busy using play doh to help us squish our subtractions. We also used play doh to find half of a shape.
